Soave DOC WINE
Soave wine is made from the Garganega grape. The Garganega grape is grown in the Northern region of Italy in the Soave area. The vines grow best in hilly areas with volcanic clay soils and do not do well in outside areas. There are different types of Soave wines with the wines slightly differing in their taste.Winemaking
While preparing the wine, the grapes have to be picked and manually cleaned as well as manually selected to remove the ones that are not ripe or over ripe to a state of not producing quality must. The grapes are harvested at the end of August and beginning of September. Grapes harvested at different ripening stages are crushed differently to produce the wine variations. For the next step, the grapes are pressed to release the must. The grapes must be kept cold during the pressing and pre-fermentation process. The residue is then separated from the must, and the wine goes through the fermentation process. Alcohol is added to increase the fermentation rate, and the wine goes through natural maceration. The wine is fermented for six days and kept at a temperature of 18-20 degrees. The wine is then moved to stainless steel vats for biological and chemical stabilization. It is then bottled and allowed to rest for at least two months depending on the type of Soave before it is ready for release.Wine qualities
Soave is a white wine. The physical appearance is a clear and transparent straw yellow. It has the aroma of dry fruits such as almonds. It gives an almond aftertaste and has a good balance regarding acidity and structure. The alcohol content is low.Servings
The wine is a pleasant accompaniment to various types of food. The food variety includes seafood, vegetable dishes, poultry and red meat and pickled meat. Some types of Soave are suitable for desserts.
The wine should be served at 10-12 degrees and is at its best when aged for three to four years.
