Bardolino DOC is an Italian red wine that is produced in the province of Verona located southeast of Lake Garda. The wine got its name from the Bardolino town. The climate in this region is cool characterized by cool mountain breeze and moderate temperatures from the lake that enhance the ripeness of the grapes. The type of soil in these areas is sandy and calcareous clay. The grapes are harvested during the end month of September and beginning of October.
The vine and winemaking
During the process of vinification, the juice is left to macerate for a short period on skins which enables the juice to release small amounts of aromatic compounds and pigments To obtain a colored wine; the grapes are crushed and then fermented in tanks. The temperatures are steadily increased as the wine enriches itself with alcohol content. The color of the wine is highly determined by the winemaker. The Grape varieties in this wine are 10% Merlot, 65% Corvina and 25% Rondinella. Its aged in tanks and further aged bottles for best results
Organoleptic properties
This wine is characterized by it intense coral pink color and a strong personality. It has raspberry and black currant notes and with grass undertones and a strong almond aftertaste.

Bardolino DOC is best served when chilled at temperatures of 10-12 degrees Celsius. The serving suggestions for this wine are white meat, first courses, and hors d’oeuvres.
